We have an exciting opportunity to join a flexible team of professionals in delivering a high-quality service as a Roads Officer within the Structures and Flooding department of East Lothian Council’s Roads Services team. We are looking for a self-motivated individual to become a member of the team responsible for inspecting and maintaining our road structures (e.g. bridges, culverts, walls). Duties would include carrying out General Inspections (structures on cyclic basis ) and inputting GI information into WDM (our Asset Management System) and in optimising resources to ensure maintenance of our road structures in line with DMRB Codes of Practice. You will also be required to assess, review, prioritise, prepare orders and supervise works on site by the internal labour force and or external contractors ensuring works are completed in accordance with contract documentation and best practice. An individual with knowledge and experience of inspections is desired but those with less experience in this aspect will be considered.

The candidate will need to be confident with good verbal and written communication skills who can quickly establish good working relationships.  You will also need to be IT proficient as digital technology is used daily as part of the role. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of technical staff and will engage with a wide range of services within the Council (Technical and non-Technical) as well as members of the public.

It is expected that the individual will be suitably educated to HNC/SVQ Level 2 in Civil Engineering or related discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience. You will be working within an office environment and will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within beautiful East Lothian. Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HNC/SVQ Level 2 in Civil Engineering or related discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
